September 18-19, 2009This class is a survey course of the whole Old Testament, touching on the themes, backgrounds and messages of each book. The textbook is What the Bible Is All About by Henrietta Mears. This course will deepen your understanding of the Old Testament as a whole and is appropriate for ministers and lay leaders alike. The class will be taught by Adrian Hinkle. Textbook(s)What the Bible Is All About by Henrietta Mears Pre-class Assignment(1) Read all of the Old Testament section of "What the Bible is All About". The students will sign a reading report indicating what % of the text was read. (2) Make a chart listing the 39 Old Testament books. For each of them, include:
Adrian Hinkle
Adrian HinkleAdrian Hinkle is an Assistant Professor in the School of Theology at Southwestern Christian University (SCU) in Bethany, OK. She graduated with an M.A. in Theology from Southern Nazarene University and is now working towards a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies. She is an active member of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (Northwest Christian Center) along with her husband and three children. Prior to working at SCU, Adrian was an Assistant Youth Pastor at the Lighthouse Church in Kingfisher, OK. In addition, she has served as a secretary for Evangelism USA at the IPHC Resource Development Center as well as serving on the Heartland Conference Women’s Ministry Board. The focus of Adrian’s doctorate thesis is how the church can incorporate the teaching format of the Old Testament to better anchor the Church’s heritage and identity of Christ. Adrian is deeply passionate about the Old Testament Canon and desires to ignite this same passion within each of her students. |
