Pre-class Assignment

Write a short summary describing a church you would plant. Include location, focus group, and details of the plant. You should include an estimate as to first year cost of the plant. My purpose is for you to dream. The summary should be on guidelines as given in the book.

Rev. Chris Thompson holds a Th.B. degree from Holmes Bible College, a B.A. degree from Campbell University and a M.A. degree from Southwestern Christian University.  Rev. Thompson has recently been elected to the position of Executive Director of Evangelism USA for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church and will also serve as the Corporate Secretary of the IPHC.

Prior to this election, Rev. Thompson served the North Carolina Conference of the IPHC as Evangelism Director for four years, as Evangelism/World Missions Director for eleven years, as Assistant Superintendent for seven years and as the Conference Bishop for over eight years.  He also served two terms on the Evangelism USA Board.

In addition, Rev. Thompson served the IPHC in the following capacities:  Northeast Zone Representative of the General Executive Board (8 years); Member of the General Board of Administration (9 years); Chairman of the Falcon Children’s Home Board (8 years); Committee Chairman of the Emmanuel College Board of Trustees (9 years); and Vice Chairman of the Holmes Bible College Board of Trustees (9 years).

Over a period of 12 years, Rev. Thompson was a very successful pastor in three churches in the North Carolina Conference.  He has a heart and passion for church planting, as is evident in his efforts to introduce new cultures and unchartered demographic areas into our Conference and denomination.

Rev. Chris Thompson is a native of Wayne County, North Carolina.  Bishop Thompson is married to Betty Thompson of Virginia.  They have three sons and two granddaughters.
